Grandma's fun recovery

Between Mom's shoulder surgery in February
and then her back surgery in June she had her share of pain pills, doctor's appointments, hospital food, physical therapy and visits from the family!
After her back surgery she was moved to a rehab center where she stayed for 3 weeks.
We had tons of fun visiting her.
Hope she had as much fun as we did.

One day we brought lunch in so we could eat together.
We also liked to steal from her chocolate stash.
Emmy brought her harp to play for her and the other folks there.
We had special family time there being weird.
Bringing in our own food we enjoyed our Sunday dinners with her in the dinning hall.

Kaden and Grandma were supposed to be watching a movie with me but decided to play games on their phones instead.
The kids loved loved loved the wheelchair and the walker.  They would "dibs" them as we drove into the parking lot to see who could have them first.  Each time after our visit one of the kids would say, "mom, I know what I want for Christmas this year.  A wheelchair!!"
Ha!
I told them they could have one after they broke their leg or had back surgery and they responded with "Ok I still want one."
While resting on Mom's bed while she was doing her stretches I showed everyone what an old person looked like when they napped.
Maybe that's just what I looked like while I was napping.
Visiting Mom in her rehab place didn't make us act any different from our usual time together.
One thing about Mom is that she sure takes care of herself.  The doctors were sure impressed with how well she takes care of herself and how on the ball she is with her therapy and stretches.
She's not a slacker at all.
One Sunday I couldn't find her in the room at all and walked around the building looking for her.
I opened the door to the physical therapy room and there was mom in her Sunday dress working on some machines just using her time.
The lights were all off and she was all alone.
That dedicated woman!
The perfect patient!
Never to be idle!
Always an extra miler!
Always showing everyone up!

She is now doing so much better and on her way to perfection!
