In May Kaden had a guitar recital. It was supposed to be outside at a park so we invited the cousins to come hang out and watch it with us. But because of the rain we had it in our teacher's basement... nice and cozy.
But, for Kaden's first performance he did a great job.
But was super duper nervous and he hated wearing his red collared shirt.
Emmy performed in the Harp Festival at BYU. She had to play 2 pieces in front of 3 judges. She was super nervous mostly because she had to play on a harp she wasn't familiar with and the levers were all crazy. I was mad that the judges didn't help her because she had to restart 3 times to fix the levers.
All the family came to support her which made it fun. And in the end the judges overlooked her lever issues. She did a great job and was awarded a SUPERIOR!
Just as a side note, hearing my kids perform is always a nice pay day for me. I need some pay days since practicing every day is pure drudgery and torture. In fact, I think that if you took away practicing an instrument we wouldn't have very much contention in our home. The bottom line is that getting the kids to practice their instruments is the #1 cause for contention in my home. Augh! I need counseling therapy! Why do I continue then?
Just cuz.
That's another blog post.
