Maryn's school did a parent's retreat at a campground close to Moab.
Maryn and I had tons of fun being alone on the 3 hour drive down.
We arrived there around 5:00 on Tuesday , after getting lost in some cow pastures thanks to Maryn's navigating skills. For the evening sat around and met parents and girls and ate a most deliciously scrumptious dinner. We played games and took lots of pictures of the beautiful place we were nestled in.
Then the fun started.
We took turns being blind folded while the other person walked us through a maze of mouse traps. We had to communicate good and we had to listen good.
It was super scary!
Part of me wondered if Maryn was going to have me step on a mouse trap on purpose.
But, actually that thought proved to be quite symbolic of our relationship.
The good news is that we were the fastest couple who made it through the maze without stepping on any trap.
Maryn is making some special friends at her school. This is her favorite. Sam.
They wrote crazy stuff in the sand.
Although I wanted to be a camper, I didn't want to have to fuss with all the gear for 24 hours of camping. We stayed in a comfy hotel 10 miles down the road. In the morning when we came over for breakfast we knew we made the right decision. A guy came down to show us what he caught...
A BEAR.
He said that there are tons of bears in the area because it's berry season. This guy goes around the area and catches the bears that gets too close too people. This one was wandering around the campground getting into people's food.
Glad I was in my hotel oblivious of this guy or I wouldn't have slept a wink!
We played lots of games.
It was really a relaxing time. Nice to be to be with my Maryn and a great opportunity to meet other parents.
Then, we went rafting down the Green River.
It was tons of fun!
I thought I was in a calm raft until this mom climbed in with us... the one who is standing up swinging her oar around.
She was a wild one who kept jumping in the water and then couldn't get out of the water. She splashed everyone. She screamed. She was one crazy mama who helped make our river run even more exciting.
I was glad that I was with Maryn.
We had a great time together, doing something that we normally wouldn't have done just the 2 of us.
She is a great girl and I love her a lot!!!
Thanks everyone for a super fun Parent's Retreat!
They went to a lot of work to make sure we ate delicious food and that we could just sit around and enjoy our time. We didn't have to lift a finger! That's my kind of parent's get-away!
