The last day of school could not have come fast enough.
So many things happened from the beginning of school until this day that
emotionally and physically we were drained.
Clear back in August, we arrived from Washington, went straight to the school in our stinky travel clothes to see the school for the first time and meet our teachers.
While living with Marty in Orem we traveled 38 miles to the school for 95 percent of the year.
We didn't have our stuff.
We sold our Washington house.
We bought a house in Bluffdale.
We moved in.
And school finally was over.
A mother could not have been happier.
The kids had a super great year.
The school is the best!
Their teachers were SO SO awesome.
I don't cry saying good-bye to ALL of my kid's teachers...
only the good ones.
I cried saying good-by to all of them this year.
Embarrassing.
But, they loved and cared for my kids
and taught them and spent more time with them than I do.
Mrs. Woolston said that Emmy is a mini-me of her when she was that age.
Same personality
Same interests
It was awesome to have her "get" Emmy and give her special challenges and help.
When we had some social problems in the year Mrs. Woolston knew just what to do to help since she had Emmy pegged.
She was so wonderful!
We will definitely miss her.
Maryn and her friends had a sob session saying good-bye since some of them wouldn't be returning to the school the next year.
We didn't know at the time that Maryn wouldn't be returning either
Had she known, her sob session would have been out of control.
Ady's teacher, Mr. Christiansen was fantastic!
He had a small group of students whom he trusted a lot so he gave them lots of freedoms. They were obedient because they knew it was the right thing to do
Not because they had to.
They didn't have to have their parents sign their homework.
They didn't have to ask to go to the bathroom.
They didn't have to stand in line.
They had a lot of privileges because he knew he could count on them.
Ady was part of that group.
She worked harder because of that trust.
He gave her responsibilities because he knew she could handle it.
Ady really blossomed in the 6th grade thanks to Mr. Christiansen.
After singing the Hallelujah Chorus and doing super high cheerleader kicks
We invited everyone for an afternoon of some R&R.
We met the family at Canyon Glen for an afternoon of sitting and eating and doing nothing but being together.
It was my favorite way to start off the summer.
We roasted hot dogs.
Made smores.
Played with the babies.
Played some family kick ball.
Acted weird
And enjoyed the beauty of the day and the glorious thought that Summer was now here!
For an afternoon
life was perfect.
