We LOVED going to the Ogden Temple Open House on a lovely Saturday. Our appointment was at 8:30 or some crazy early hour on a Saturday morning but once we were there we were SO happy to be there.
Everyone else in the country thought it was an awesome idea to go to the temple too because it was so crowded. But it made it all worth it when we saw Laurel Christensen Day. All we had to do was tell her that we were huge fans of hers and she stayed to chat and take pictures for a minute. She's the real deal... so nice.
I Loved being there with my beautiful offspring. I loved reminding them of the sacred beauty of the temple. I loved our chat in the car before about temple work, service for those who have gone on before, eternal families, marriages, baptisms, heaven, peace, and how much Heavenly Father loves us. I reminded them that we always want to be worthy to hold a temple recommend and to always find ourselves in the temple. Blessings and answers to prayers come from frequent temple attendance.
So sweet to be in such a beautiful place with my children.
It was an extra special treat to be with several members of the family too who wanted to join us.
After the temple we went to the Pioneer Park flee market. We found our special friend Lluvia Campbell who had a booth there. We bought a few things and then got some lunch while we listened to some loud, fun, live music.
The next place on our "to do" list was to go hike Ensign Peak. No one else in the family had done that before so it was extra fun to do it with the newbies. Everyone was amazingly good hikers.
...even Maryn
And we couldn't have asked for a more beeeeeautiful day.
We ALL made it to the top.
even my little preshies.
Proud of Mom and Dad being adventurous. I kept telling them that it was just a short little easy hike. Well, after not hiking it for several months you forget the hardships. The hike is pretty short, but it's not that easy... very steep in many spots. But, they were determined to make it and have that experience.
Emmy pondering all of the thoughts that buzz around in her head all of the time.
While the kids waited for us to descend they organized themselves into a little church choir.
The next place on our agenda for our day of adventures was going to the Salt Lake Cemetery. We followed our map to find as many famous LDS folks that we could find.
The angel from the "Christmas Box."
And by this time we were nearly dying of starvation. It had been a big day of much sight-seeing so it called for a Chuck-A-Rama buffet.
We were so happy for a fun and wonderful day together. We saw some special things and and were exhausted when it was over. Our tummies were happy. Our hiking legs were happy. And our Spirits were happy from starting our day off at the Ogden Temple so early.
