We were so hungry to go back to Washington to say hello and good-bye to our friends. The kids had been going through so many new changes and hard things in Utah that we needed to return to our "home" so we could have familiar friends and comforts surround us. Besides that we just needed a get-away!
So, one Thursday afternoon we took off to make our first stop in Idaho for the night.
Driving through Idaho it sounded like it was raining,
but there weren't any clouds.
Blah! We had bugs splattering blood and guts all over our windshield.
Kids were freaking out!
Driving into the setting sun... trying to enjoy it through the nasty windshield.
We woke up Friday morning, finished our drive and arrived in Washington.
We stayed at the Jones' house. The super saddest part was that they weren't home. We had the house to our selves but we would have much rather had them there. In fact, we were SO sad that we couldn't see them while we were visiting.
We dropped our stuff off at the house and took off for Pine Lake Park.
Zoe came too... Emmy's bestie.
They had 2 sleep overs and spent as much time together as they could during our week.
Maryn trying to look cute as she's snarffing her Taco Bell.
On Saturday we picked up a new set of friends and went to Alki Beach where we spent the day.
Maya came to hang out with Ady.
Zoe, Emmy and Audrey.
Maryn and Diana
We loved seeing the boats and ferries traveling across the water.
It was such a great day!
We went to the other side of the beach to the tide pools.
Church on Sunday was the most glorious day.
To see our friends was so happy.
The Bishop even welcomed the Slichta family from the Pulpit.
In Relief Society I had an amazing experience sitting around 7 divorced women.
I felt strong and powerful like I was joining an elite club with these great ladies I admired so much.
I got side tracked after leaving Sacrament mtg and went around a different way that I wasn't planning. There, walking towards me, on her way home was Marcie Matthews (Charles). She was my Beehive when we lived in Chicago and her family is still super special friends of ours.
It was so great to see her, now a married mom.
The girls hanging out with their great friends after church.
The Rodriguez girls and Jessie Tanner. Oh man, we miss them all so much. When you move to a new area and don't have the greatest of friends yet your old friends become even more special. We loved them before but we definitely didn't want to leave them this Sunday.
Sunday we went to the Webbs for dinner and had dessert with the Gehretts.
Monday we spent the day at Newcastle beach with lots of friends.
LOOK at those teenagers on their cellular devices. Good grief!! After I took this picture I reminded Maryn that she was WITH her friends she hadn't seen in a year.
"Get off your booty and go play!!"
They got in the water and swam to the dock and hung out.
Maryn was clear that teenagers don't "play" they hang out.
Tuesday we gathered more friends and took a ride on the Ferry.
The Ferris wheel was a new addition to the lake front since we have been there.
On the ferry
What's the best destination that the Bainbridge Island Ferry goes to?
Mora's ice cream!!!
More dinner and fun with the Webbs and Gehretts
Two of my special friends, Kristen and Mary Jo.
They pretty much hosted and entertained us during our week.
The weather was SO nice while we were there. It made us remember why we love Seattle.
We had to spend a day at the Seattle Center.
The International Fountain.
Fun in the Food Court.
The Space Needle and our traditional picture poses.
Had to see The Troll.
Ady and Maryn wanted to do baptisms at the Seattle Temple.
The flowers were scrumptious!
We took Anna Gehrett with us.
It was SO sad to leave and say good-bye.
We had the super funnest week ever!
Usually when we move from somewhere I feel a closure to that life and time. When we go back to visit I feel like it's not our home anymore and that we don't belong there.
Why don't I feel that with our life in Sammamish!
Our circumstances with leaving there was so different. We loved it there so much and miss our friends so much.
They represent happiness and comfort right now to us. We were so glad that we could visit. We stayed SO busy having fun and doing everything that we love about Seattle. We saw so many friends and had one constant sleepover with lots of them.
But, all things have to come to an end...
we got up at the crack of dawn and left for home.
The kids did a good job of keeping me awake and entertained driving the 14 hour drive home.
They made videos of us singing and dancing in the car. (to protect the innocent we won't include those here.)
We ate our favorite garbage food.
We had bubble gum blowing contests... I'm pretty sure I won.
Good times!
Great trip!
Love my kids and the fun we have together!!!!
