Visitors from the East head Nroth

While Maryn and I was at Girl's Camp I was grateful that my super, duper in-laws found it in their hearts to come and give service to their son for the week. It's not that Jeffrey isn't extremely capable to take care of 3 children for 5 days. Wow, is he ever capable. It's just that they were able to make it fun and a bit less stressful for him and everyone involved. Which meant that I could enjoy Girl's Camp a tad more. I am so grateful!
Maryn and I felt like we were missing out on play time with Grammy and Poppy who we don't see too often. We didn't have to beg too hard to get them to stay 4 extra days.

Seven (7) hours after returning from Girl's Camp we packed up the car and headed off to Victoria, British Columbia. It took 2 ferry rides and a few hours driving in the car to get to the beautiful island. The harbor area of Victoria is a bit touristy but really fun.

We took a taxi to church. The small chapel was packed so the elderly usher kindly ushered us up to the choir seats where we sat as strangers looking upon the ward.
We felt awkward... but the service was wonderful.
We drove around the island a bit and found these fun pools of water that opened up every so often a long a river. (something having to do with "potts." I can't remember the name of it in case any of you want to find it. Worth it though.)

The water was chilly.

We also went to Butchart Gardens.
Emmy loved this piece of artwork at the entrance.
It all was a feast of floral amazement.
A bevy of colors.
A plethora of beautiful flowers of every kind.

Don't think that you shouldn't go to the gardens just because you saw all these pictures.
The pictures were nothing!
Go!

The weirdest thing that we did was go to the Bug Zoo. If you're scared of bugs you still need to go to this zoo. While the bugs were being passed around we listened to incredible facts about them.
Bug are smart.
I bet Heavenly Father had a blast working on creating these fellas.

This is the one that did gross me out big time. All I could think of was the contestants of "Survivor" who had to eat these things.
Blah!
For some weird reasons our tour guide told the kids that they could put this millipede up on their lip to make a mustache. I wouldn't have done it but our brave kids,Ady and Kaden gave it a try.
They said it was just a light tickle.
Hul!
I'm pretty tough holding this tarantula.

Waiting for our ferry ride home.

This was before the boat even left. We appear happy and calm. About 10 minutes later you wouldn't have recognized us at all. Our hair became wild and crazy and our faces green. It was the most turbulent boat ride I have ever been on. Grammy got a coffee and couldn't even take 1 sip for the whole hour because just the act of bringing the cup up to her lips made her drink slosh all over. Jeff thought they would do better on the bottom deck. They looked like drunken sailors walking down the stairs. The other passengers were holding back their laughs. It was much much more bumpy down thar.
I was so grateful I stayed up top and I thanked myself for taking a Dramamine. The second ferry home was the Seattle Ferry which was a beautiful, calming experience.
Jeff and his dad surprised me when I came home from Girl's Camp by taking out one whole row of bushes in front of our house. It was a lot of work and it looks so much better. They planted all the lovely plantage too.
(only 2 more rows of bushes to go. our front yard feels like a jungle sometimes and makes me feel all closed in.)
Jeff isn't really this much taller than his dad. I don't think.
We loved having Grammy and Poppy out for a visit. It's always so sad to have them go because our visits aren't close enough together. They had so much fun with the kids while here... going to the Science Center, a movie, cooking (thanks for all the recipes), reading lots of books together, going to the parks. THANKS! Love ya lots and hope to see you soon.
