I love going to see shows, plays, concerts, musicals, entertainment, performances etc. The months of November and December were filled with them.
Jenny came to Utah and had extra tickets to see Brigadoon at the Hale Center Theater. Jackie and I went with her. It was pure happiness to be with these great friends. The show was good too.
The day after Thanksgiving we decided to start off the Christmas season with seeing "First Christmas" at the Scera. We are huge fans of the Liken The Scriptures series and we are huge fans of Daniel Beck. We were a little star struck at seeing him but he was so nice to pose for this picture. His voice is divine.
During intermission the kids recognized this guy as a dad from Kid History. If you haven't seen it go to YouTube and watch some episodes. It's hilarious! And the kids were absolutely star struck at seeing him too.
As a side note to remember forever, Marianne sat underneath the side balcony. About 3/4 through the show she felt something raining. I looked up in time to see one of the choir boys barfing over the balcony. Yuck! When I pantomimed to Marianne that she had barf on her she about died and had a hard time enjoying the rest of the show. It was gross but kinda funny too.
Thanks to a friend I was able to go see "The Forgotten Carols." Up to the day before the show I wasn't 100 percent positive who was going to use the tickets I was given. I really prayed that I would know who to give them to. I wanted to invite people who had never seen it before or wouldn't be able to afford to go on their own. The first person I thought of was Silmara who's mom had passed away exactly a week before that. Then I thought of Koni who was delighted and invited her mother-in-law who was extra delighted. They invited their brand new neighbors who didn't even know there was a show called "The Forgotten Carols" although they had the CD and had listened to the music as they decorated for Christmas every year for as long as they could remember. By the end of the show all of these people were in tears. They were touched by the Spirit and so grateful for the opportunity to see the show. It was nice to be with people like that who helped make the production extra meaningful for me.
After the show there was a gigantic line-up of people to talk to Michael McClean. Silmara took me off guard a tad by cutting to the front of the line to tell Michael that her mom had died a week before. She expressed thanks to him for the wonderful show. He was SO nice to talk with her and tell her that his mom had died in April. They shared that common bond for a second about the emotions and difficulty of it and he expressed blessings to her on her journey. Silmara is awesome! and so is Michael McClean. (and thanks Tyler for the tickets so I could be apart of this great evening!)
And then we went with the whole entire family to see the King's Singers. They are a group that we have enjoyed seeing since we were little kids. We have watched the group of men changed. We love their music. We are big fans. This was the first concert of the King's Singers that my kids had been to and they became fans too. So grateful to my parents for the opportunity to go see them.
I took Emmy and Kaden to see the Lower Lights concert in Salt Lake City. Yum! They are so awesome. We love Cherie Call and wanted her to sing lots of solos. We love all the instruments and the laid back attitude of the group. Their style is so snazzy. Great evening!
Kaden performed in his first solo guitar recital.
It was all Christmas and he played "Joy To the World."
So proud.
We are big fans of the singing group Eclipse. We have seen them perform a couple of times before. Love their music. When we heard that they were doing a concert we considered going, but when we heard that our new favorite group, Beyond5 was opening the show for Eclipse there was no question if we should go or not. The kids were jittery with excitement. Both groups even sang some songs together. The whole entire concert was fun and amazing.
Then the girls about died right then and there to get their photo taken with Beyond5 and say hi again. The guys are so nice. (Kaden had to run to the bathroom when we got this picture taken, but I think it's because he thought it was weird to be excited about them and didn't want to be forced into saying hi to them.)
Emmy had her Christmas Harp concert again this year.
She did an amazing job.
On the second to last piece of the evening I heard a loud pop. I looked up because I actually thought there was a harp that had fallen, but I saw that it was Emmy and her harp had broken a string. That's a nightmare to happen in the middle of a concert. Of all the times to break a string. Seriously. She was embarrassed but did a great job!
Look at all those harps!
Emmy's 5th grade choir had a concert too that we LOVED going to. She was adorable!
My favorite girl right there.
The last week of school Emmy and Kaden's classes had a "Show What You Know" assembly. They did great.
Kaden's class performed the whole entire rendition of "The Night Before Christmas" with actions and everything.
Such super cutest 2nd graders ever!
Oh, our month was filled with so much music and talent and Spirit and awesome performances. We are so blessed to live here where we can enjoy it all around us whenever we want. I say after all that good stuff we sure were in the Christmas Spirit for sure!
