THE. LAST. DAY. OF. SCHOOL... FINALLY!

The countdown of school was such a slow one this year.
The 30 minute drive to school was beginning to kill me and my gas tank.
The anxiety of final days of school tests and programs and papers was putting us all over the edge.
But, it finally came.
We were giddy with JOY.

Emmy's 4th grade teacher was Ms. Cain this year.  There was a bit of a learning curve for Ms. Cain to "get" Emmy.  She had to "get" Emmy's creative juices and her creative writing and her desire to have friends and her stories, and her honesty and tummy aches.
Finally, by the end of the year I do believe that Ms. Cain got Emmy.
Kaden First grade teacher was Mrs. Bater and Mrs. Kempema, the instructor.  They were both fabulous!!!  They both loved Kaden and thought he was SO smart and such a good boy.  They appreciated his tender heart and kindness.  They appreciated him hanging out with the cool boys but also making really good decisions even if the cool boys weren't.  Kaden got straight A's on his report card which represented only about 2 other students in the class.  He was a conscientious student and always did his best.  He was a super smarty pants first grader this year!
Ady went around and took pictures of her with all her teachers.  Most kids would be too embarrassed to do that.  Actually, she was too embarrassed to have me take the pictures.  But this actually proves that Ady had a good relationship with all her teachers.  She communicated well with them about her grades and as a result
came out of the 7th grade with STRAIGHT A'S
!!!!!
This is Ady inside her locker.
Not many kids would be able to do that.  I like seeing how clean it is with her lotion, body spray and cute flower magnets.
It tells a lot about Ady's personality right there.
Here we are at the car on the last day of school...

...showing how absolutely thrilled we are that school is OVER!  They should have taken a picture of me because I would have jumped a million times higher than them.  Yeeha!
I was surprised to see the award that Kaden received at the end of school...
The Class Comedian?
I had no idea really.
We celebrated by going straight to the Shaved Ice place in town.
It was a well deserved shaved ice.
Pure happiness.
The next day we did our second annual Canyon Glen BBQ with the family.
The Brinkerhoff girls joined in the party this time too.

Merrill is showing Kaden how to be a boy scout and start the fire.

Notice how Merrill is sitting.  He did this the whole day.  I don't think I have ever noticed how he can do it so comfortably because it would kill my knees.  He said that the people in Russia do this.  The trick is sitting back on your heals instead of leaning forward like the Americans do.  HOWEVER, it is a skill that much be acquired because after trying it I could not do it!  According to Merrill it takes much practice.  Dare ya to try it!
Ady's trying it!
Everybody was so happy!

The kids did a show for us on the stage.

The best part was that we had no where to go but just sit around and relax.
Welcome to Summer!
We played a rousing game of kick ball.

Loved loved loved this day so much!
The trick for the next 2 months is just to enjoy every minute and relax because true to form, we already know that the Summer is going to fly by!
