Maryn had a 9th grade ball to end the year. It wasn't a date-dance but a dance where everyone comes for a good time to show what they had learned throughout the year. The students had social dance classes at school and also learned social etiquette. This was their big chance to dress up fancy and act grown up.
It happened to be at the very elite restaurant, La Caille in Sandy.
Spiffy. Super duper elegant.
with many peacocks roaming the gardens.
The boys placed a corsage on the girl's wrists and the girls pinned a boutonniere on the boys.

I was lucky enough to be one of the few parents asked to chaperon
After a 6 course meal, with cleansing the pallet type foods even and a sampling of escargot
the dancing began.
(Maryn trying her first and last bite of escargot).
Bradly Findlay, Maryn's 2nd cousin was there. They were the cutest partners. At least they had the most fun.

This is the APA dance trademark dance.
They dance the Waltz with a tennis ball between their foreheads. If your ball falls then you are eliminated. The last couple standing is the winner. Maryn and her partner didn't last too long. I would imagine it's pretty awkward to stand that close to a person of the opposite sex as a 9th grader but some kids did awesome.

At the end of the evening, a parent was invited to join in the last dance, the "parent dance."
Jeff and Maryn tried to Waltz seriously.
Although Maryn was embarrassed to talk to me during the evening, I loved watching Maryn interact with her friends. She looked so pretty and seemed so
grown up to me.
grown up to me.
It was a nice night for the 9th graders.
An experience that regular kids would not ever have and all of them will never forget!
I love Maryn!
