The first day we looked at houses in Utah
way back in September
we saw a great neighborhood in Bluffdale and a house that wasn't quite finished.
I didn't have the vision of the unfinished house and was feeling an urgency to hurry and move into something rather than wait the few months for the house to get finished.
The neighborhood stuck in my head though and I drove through it
September, October, November, December and January.
During this time the house went under contract.
January we found out that it fell out of contract.
Our realtor had us look at it again and as I walked into the door I heard the angels singing the hallelujah chorus.
Seriously, with the many times we have moved I have never had such a strong feeling about a house being THE RIGHT place for us to live.
After seeing every single neighborhood in all of Salt Lake Valley over the space of 5 months I found our house.
It was exciting!
The last day of April we became home owners.
The front room
Our music room.
The Family room.
The office to the left, bathroom straight ahead and closet to the right.
The office/craft room.
The kitchen.
Look at that nasty, pergo, dark brown floor. You could see every foot print and hear every step and sound. We had that changed before we moved in to a nice tan colored tile.
The upstairs.
Kaden's bedroom to the left, bathroom straight, Maryn's bedroom to the right.
Super obnoxiously huge master bathroom.
Does anyone ever really use those tubs that take up so much space?
The movers arrived while I was at BYU Women's Conference so I had to leave that early to tend the mover guys. See the walls? Our funny worker-man Terry was starting work on putting up our wainscoting.
And there stands my baby grand piano that I have been worried about for such a long time.
Boxes, boxes and other crap.
Living out without my stuff for such a long time was kind of liberating.
Who needs all that stuff anyway?
We found this bed for Kaden and decided to paint it blue.
Terry did lots of closet work for us to
since the house felt like a shell of a house.
The back and front yards were just dirt when we moved in. The wind is always blowing here which, combined with the kids tracking in the dirt it was hard to keep this place clean.
A month after we moved in we finally got our sod. The landscapers brought their tractor and while they were pushing dirt around they dug a hole for a trampoline.
Kind of out of order, but our first meal in our house... Cafe' Rio.
Marc, Merrill and my parents came to help unpack the stuff.
It's days like this day where I wouldn't care if I EVER moved again.
EVER
NO NEVER!!
Here is the almost final product of our front room, painted and everything.
Nothing on the walls yet though.
I loved how it turned out.
I even used the same paint color on the top as we had done in our Seattle home because I loved it so much.
It just feels yummy to me.
Our partial Music room.
The laundry room even has cubbies to help us keep organized.
It's not organized all the way yet
So don't judge me by the messes.
My favorite.
Every mother who does laundry needs this.
Once the clothes are cleaned
they are folded and put into the kids baskets.
The idea is for the kids to empty out their own basket weekly so they always have clothes to wear from their bedroom, but often times the laundry room becomes the dressing room 'cause the kids are too lazy to ever empty out their basket.
There you have it!
Although chaotic we are enjoying our new house.
I have so many projects and ideas for it to give it functionality
and character and make it ours,
but that takes money and time.
Mostly money.
I'll post pictures as they happen.
The most favorite part is that instead of it taking 45 minutes to get to school it only took us 25 minutes which we enjoyed the last month of school.
Piece of cake, right?
Well, not no more.
Now, 25 minutes feels too far (which is is) and I want to be even closer to school so it doesn't have to consume our life again.
Do I ask for too much?!
I don't think so.
