Emmy's week

Sometimes kids just need a little extra TLC.
We used to do an OK job of having an alone date with our kids.
Most of the time we get busy and we stink at it.
One week Emmy's behavior was screaming bloody-murder for some alone time with her parents.
We made some plans to make it a great week for her...
Every day we snuggled in my bed and read a book together.
Every day that week she and I went on a walk.
We made a rule that we had to hold hands the whole time and that Emmy could talk about what ever she wanted to talk about.
Let's just say that as long as Emmy has a listening ear she never tires of talking.

In the middle of the week Emmy got a 90 minute date with her mom and dad to do whatever she wanted.
True to Emmy form it involved a treat and books.
(frozen yogurt shop and Barnes and Noble.)
After this week with Emmy and seeing what it did for her
Jeff and I committed once again that going on a date with our kids was important.

Especially,
considering
that our life is wacky right now with no stability whatsoever.
The end.
