Thanksgiving Joy

For Thanksgiving we went to the Madsen's house in Redding. (If you are one of our special friends from Redding, don't read this because we feel bad we didn't have time to visit you.)
Because... just because... we took the Toyota Highlander which doesn't have the roomy accommodations as the Odyssey. The back seat is a little jump seat which makes things a bit cozy for those in the back and there isn't a DVD player in the car. So, if you can believe it, we drove for 18 hours without any movie. WOW! The Slichta kids lived to tell about it. The travels were even a bit enjoyable as we read and played games and just sat and thought or talked or even slept. Look how Emmy and Kaden are bonding here as Kaden takes a nap. It was absolutely a laugh a minute with the Madsens. We kept busy doing the very necessaries... Here some are doing P90X in preparation to eating a lot of food.
Dinner is served.

Steven and Kaden were best buddies being the only boys.

The most annoying thing for me is all the Christmas shopping that began on Thanksgiving Day. What is up with that? Isn't that a day we're supposed to stay home with out families and think about our blessings?
So many stores opened up at 4 in the morning the next day. I am allergic to shopping but how could I resist making a crazy memory with my friend Sara to shop at 4:00 am? To go along with pier pressure look at what time that clock says...
All I could say was, "why not?" and "only once in my life?"
Look at those little tired eyes?
Yep we all felt like train wrecks and truly the deals weren't worth getting up that early for... but we can now say we did it and I will never do it again. We went to the Cascade Theater and saw A Cascade Christmas. It was so good and got us all in the Christmas spirit right away.
Look at Steve and Jeff. Can you tell that they might have gone shopping together? twinners.
Emmy could not resist getting together with her best friend, Annie Crawford and her sister Livie. They played all day and then came to the Madsens to play too.
Maryn just had to do something to her hair with Stephanie around. Highlights.
Ady got her hair cut too.
Thanks Stephanie.
A party in the hot tub.
Maryn's friend, Shyla Williams came over to hang out with her and Julia.

Thanks Madsens. We loved being with you. It was great for us to get away for a weekend to have laughs and fun. Gobble Gobble.
