Emmy had a birthday. She is 8! Finally!
She has such an enormous personality and is a huge presence in our home you can imagine that her birthday was like a burst of fireworks.
Breakfast was waffles. Yum! The presents had to come early in the morning because of busy activities later in the evening. clothes, books and boots...
Emmy got to spend the afternoon with her friend, Audrey and have her over for dinner too.
Dinner was personal sized home made pizzas with milkshakes. Em is like a surge of electricity. She has so much energy and animation. She is a constant talker beginning her conversations with, "Guess what?" or "Do you wanna know what happened?" and then she'll follow me all over the house talking and sharing stories and experiences and thoughts and feelings. Her mind must be as busy as a blender mixing and whirling and moving so fast. I can't keep up with her stories. I can't imagine how she can keep up with her own thoughts. She makes me tired so I am never surprised in the evening when she starts wearing down and gets sleepy before anyone else.
The great thing is that when she's tired she goes to bed.

Emmy loves to be with friends. She is friendly. She is happy. She is so good at school. She literally can read a book a day. I know that all of her reading has helped her in her other subjects at school. I am so grateful for her love of reading. It has expanded her mind and given her a fun vocabulary to draw from. Yesterday I asked her how her day was and she responded, "perplexing." She knew exactly what it meant too. Nothing surprises me anymore with things that Emmy says.
Emmy has learned the harp so quickly. Her teacher is amazed at how she can hear something and then play it. She has even taught herself some of her harp pieces on the piano. Everyday she begs me to teach her the piano. I know she could learn it quickly too.
She acts hungry to learn.
Over Christmas we took the kids to see the Carl Bloch art exhibit at BYU. We rented IPads
to add to our tour so we could learn more. Some of the kids rushed through the exhibit but I was so impressed with Emmy curious and wanting to read as much as she could about each painting.

As happy as Emmy is she also has a powerful contrasting side. She is full of drama and emotion. She really is larger than life.
We love Emmy so much!
She sparkles and adds so much to our home. I can't believe that she is 8 years old. She is ready to be baptized and excited for that big day.
