I only mention my birthday because the spectacular gift I received is definitely worth taking note of. My present from the family was to leave me alone for 2 whole days. Yep. Can you believe it? Isn't that the greatest thing ever?!
Jeff picked up the kids from school on Friday and took them to a hotel (using points so it was free) and kept them there playing and swimming and watching movies until Saturday night. I got to do whatever I wanted the whole time. For the first hour I just sat on the couch watching a mindless t.v. show because I was overwhelmed at the possibilities of what I could do. I didn't know what to do because my list was so great. My desires to accomplish my life long's to-do list could finally happen. Oh, but I knew it would pass too fast so I had to be good with my time. What did I do? Went to the temple. Went exercising. Watched a movie. Sewed a blanket. Went to lunch. And seriously the time was gone. Too fast. Oh, but it was so delicious. Children are so yummy but mommys need a break once in a while. I'll be the first to admit it.
Thanks Jeff and kiddies. I loved my present. Can I ask for it again for my birthday next year? Or for Christmas? Or Easter? Mother's Day? 4th of July?

I was just on the phone with Jakob (he's out of town), and I just told him that the only way I can feel peace in this home is if he took the boys to a hotel for a couple of days so that I could do things alone without them getting messed up 10 seconds later. I just said that! Crazy. Maybe not that crazy, though, because I'm pretty sure that's every mothers wish.
Happy Birthday! That really was such a great gift and I'm definitely sending Jakob a link to this post to give him another subtle hint. :)
Marcia! All I can see on your blog is photos, no words. Do I need to login somehow to read it? I love seeing what you are doing, but I want to read about it too! By the way, I loved your Christmas letter - I especially loved your and Jeff's photos - great hair!!
Happy, Happy Birthday!!! I miss our tradition of stawberries, waffles and Jenny's cinnamon syrup and lots laughs around the table. I hope it was wonderful! I miss you my sweet friend
