This time of year in Seattle is always a bit of a struggle for those who live here. The date tells us that it should be getting warmer... and it actually is getting a bit warmer, however the rain still falls and the sun is often clouded over. However, the locals don't pay attention to the temperature outside but wear their flip flops and and short sleeved shirts anyway. We're full of hope. We wear our summer clothes in protest to the rain we demand to leave. The sunny days are a teaser for what we ache so badly to have, (but in reality doesn't truly arrive until July 4th).
So, when a sunny day falls on a Saturday everyone and their mother is found outside soaking in the sun. After Ady's school choir sang for 2 hours at the Issaquah Farmer's Market, eating a Hawaiian Shaved Ice and drewling over the bountious flower bouquets and vegetables, we chose to take our family outing to Alki Beach.
Our first stop was the south side of the beach where Ady and Jeff explored the tide pools on a previous field trip. Unfortunately the tide was high on this day but that didn't stop the adventurous souls in this family... they braved sharp rocks and gross seaweed to wade out to the rocks to find some sea life.
It was SO beautiful!!!

After this adventure we went to the north side of the beach that is a bit touristy. It was packed. We stayed there for several hours sitting, reading, playing in the sand and relaxing. Our friends, the Gehretts joined us after a few hours which made the playing more fun and got us to stay even longer. We got Fish and Chips and pizza and ate it on the beach for dinner.
It was a fabulous day of sunshine!! Our sunburns and memories can take us through until the sun returns another day...
but did I mention that it is so beautiful here?
