We have done this for 3 weeks now and I have to say that I've never felt like a better mom. You have 2 CD's... one for morning and the other for evening. Everyone has their assignments for the morning and for the evening and they have a certain amount of songs to do the specific task. For example there is wake up music for about 5 minutes. Then a lady's voice (who does get a big annoying after a while) tells you that you have 1 song to get dressed. Then she tells you that you have 10 songs to eat breakfast. It goes through the whole routine of getting up, making your bed, doing your act of kindness (which is a job), getting dressed and putting jammies away, eating breakfast, clearing your dishes and rinsing them, brushing teeth, saying prayers etc. etc. A word about the Act of Kindness is that it is basically a job they are assigned. I actually love this part because it is teaching the child that they have an important part in the family and their acts are that of service because we love our family. If they didn't do their Act of Kindness then there would be a big problem in the way the home would flow. They do a different one in the morning than at night. Maryn does the laundry and loads the dishwasher. Adyson makes breakfast and vacuums. Emmy cleans the bathrooms ( a different one each day) and picks up the downstairs. Kaden is in charge of the playroom. The point is for them to become proficient at their job before a new one is assigned. I love this time because it gives me 10 minutes to help the kids but also to hustle around and get some things cleaned or picked up that I need to do. If you're working fast, and uninterrupted, it's amazing how much you can accomplish.
The rewards you ask? Well, they have a nifty board thing where they keep track of the points they earn. Then after 2 weeks they are rewarded with a fun date of their choosing with either Mom or Dad.
Anyhoo, just wanted to share the Slichta latest and greatest. Since I am mad that I've lived almost 13 years with children without the Miracle Music I wanted to share it with you so I won't be held accountable for not sharing. It is SO worth it! Jeff loves it too. Babysitters can come over and put on the CD and the kids will work and get things done on their own and practically put themselves to bed. If it sounds too good to be true well, just try it out for yourself. And write in your testimonial to me to let me know how it works for you. I'd have to say, It's A Miracle!!!
