BFF's

After Jeff and I had been married for a year we moved to Naperville, IL. We immediately became sucked into the life of one of the funnest families around, Bill and Jamie Matthews and their 6 kids. I worked in the Young Women's with Jamie. We both worked with the Beehives... (many stories could come from that but I won't go into that right now.) I taught Marcie as a Beehive then I taught Mindy as a Laurel. Mindy was Maryn's very first babysitter and both girls babysat for us a lot! We had waffles at their house every Sunday. One Sunday Jeff and I were hungry and craving waffles so much that we sat on their porch and waited for them to come home from church so we could invite ourselves in to eat with them. We babysat their 6 children while Bill and Jamie went to Israel for over a week. At that time those 6 children were "willed" to Jeff and I in case anything happened to Bill and Jamie. Although we loved that family and would have loved having those kids as our own we never prayed harder for the safety of any one's return before. We went to the St. Louis, MO temple open house together. We did a summer of the Hill Cumorah Pageant together. After we moved away from Naperville they moved to Alpine, UT and Thailand and now back to Alpine. Their kids are awesome and they are just a fun couple that we've kept in touch with over the years.

Well, we had the pleasure of having them stay with us for a long weekend in June... who knew that we moved into the neighboring ward of Bill's brother. Their nephew was getting married and although we didn't know him personally, we went to the fun reception so we could spend as much time as we could with Bill and Jamie. One of the highlights of their visit was when Jeff and Bill were helping them on Sammamish Lake move their wave runners from one dock to another. They were both on the same wave runner and having a great time with the wind and water and not a care in the world. Well, who knew that the water police were out and pulled them over for speeding. Ha! It was an extra surprise for them to be bumped on their flight home and to get to stay the rest of Sunday with us. Thanks for a great weekend you guys.
