Ady's BIG Birfday

A few days after we moved in Adsie had a birthday.
We did the best we could to throw our usual birthday traditions but it was hard since we were still up to our eyeballs in boxes and
we had no kitchen table
and other fancies.
But her birthday came just the same
and we celebrated our great Adyson with back flips and cheers and parties.
She is worth it!

Waffles for breakfast on her own little cute table.
A birthday outing with her special friend, Katie.
They've been besties since they were 1 when we lived in Southern California.
We painted ceramics.  They did matchie turtles.
Maryn is always available to tag along for a party.

We ate dinner at a super yummy place.
Then we had our family party.
It was a yellow party because Ady likes yellow.
She likes the yellow smiley faces.
And yellow means Happy!
Ady's smiley shirt is a perfect example of what I mean...

Everyone had to wear yellow.
This was Marc's contribution.
Happy Birthday Adyson Slichta 12 happy face.

Ady is girl of exactness, tradition and predictability.
For the millionth year in a row we had homemade pizza and fruit salad in a watermelon.

yellow M&M's.

Ady loves big, huge, squeezy hugs and kisses.
(I'm being sarcastic can you tell?)
Our activity was a bubble gum blowing contest  with yellow gum.

I'll let you decide who the winner was...
keep in mind that my bubble was still growing after this picture was taken.
James' gum popped right after this.
So, it's clear who won, right?

On her way to her first ever Young Women's activity.
Oh my goodness!
She was so excited and I was so excited for her.
She was dying that I took this picture out our back yard at her.
She refused to stop and pose so it's an action shot.
Adyson is one of those special people who came to Earth SO SO good.  But here are 12 reasons why I like her:
1. She is a hard worker.
2. She's not a half-way kind of gal.  Even if something takes hours longer or she stays up later, she wants everything to represent her BEST effort.  (even if her mom is telling her to "hurry up just be done already!")
3.  She has a kind heart, always looking out for the underdog or lonely.
4.  She has a great sense of right and wrong.  She is our family conscience always reminding us to be good.
5. She has so many talents it's hard for her to chose what to focus on.  Besides music, she's good at gymnastics, art, cooking and she wants to get into more of the domestic talents too.
6.  She has become the BEST babysitter in the last year.  In fact, she out-babysits her older sister and is the favorite babysitter of several families in our ward.  They tell me that they love it when she babysits because the kids like her, she plays and entertains them and the mom's love it when the house is always cleaned when they get home.  Last night she came home and said she organized their pencil drawer.
7.  I always love it when she asks me to come tuck her in bed at night.  She says this, "Mom, if you aren't too busy, and you feel like coming to tuck me in then you can."  How can I turn that down?  I run up there and we chat and as I tuck the blankets all around her.
8.  She got chosen to be an Ambassador for the 7th graders this year.  It's like Student Counsel but you must be invited.  I love that her teachers see what a good leader for the right and friend she is.
9.  She loves babies and wants to hold all the babies at church.
10.  The first Sunday that she turned 12 she got her recommend to got he temple to do baptisms for the dead.
11. Loves to fix people's hair so cute.  Love to paint other's nails.  Likes to rub lotion on feet and hands and have it done to her too.
12.  As her mom I can see that certain things are changing about Adyson... her ability to speak up for what she wants, her determination to do what she wants, her desire to try out her free agency and her ability to sleep long amounts of time on Saturday mornings.  She definitely is on her way to becoming a teenager.  Yikes!  She is such a special person who wants to do good because it makes her feel good.  She wants to help others feel that too.

I am so thankful for Ady as my daughter.  I have always sensed a specialness and gentleness and goodness from her that that makes me so happy to be her mom.  She teaches me a lot.  I am thankful now that she gets to go to weekly Young Women's and girl's camp and all those great things that happens when you turn 12.  She's ready for all that good stuff.  It will only make her better and strengthen what she already knows.
I love you Ady!!!
