Happy Nerd Day for Mimi!

Maryn had a birthday!
Even though she is getting older
she thinks she is very mature.
She thinks she is deserving of all that old and mature people should have.
Ha!
That's so funny!
We thought the perfect party theme for her would be a
Nerd party!
It was perfect and some people didn't even have to dress up.
The family came over for her special crepe breakfast.
We couldn't find any of candles for her to blow out so we pulled out our Yankee Candle and made do.
It was a Nerd party, right?
Does it tell you something that Maryn didn't even have to dress up?
The Shumans gave Maryn the most gigantic, homemade cheese ball for her birthday.
Her favorite present of the day.
Some of her gifts:
jewelry, a Seattle sweatshirt, a new swimsuit, cheese ball and crackers, Kohls card from Grammy and Poppy and money to buy ballroom dance shoes from Grandma and Grandpa and looky there,
a Utah driver's education instruction booklet.
Maryn thinks that just because she is 15 now, she will be allowed to get her Learner's permit ASAP.
Ha!
Teenagers are so silly.
There are so many reasons why I love Maryn:
1) she is such a fun person to have around.  Sometimes she tries to act grownup but really, she is silly and crazy.
2) she has always been my #1 assistant around the home.
3) I love to see her reading her scriptures.
4) she loves babies and has always been a great babysitter for me and others.
5) We have had some good talks lately that have helped me see that she has a very tender heart.
6) she makes friends so easily.
7) she is so talented and could possibly do anything in the world that she sets her mind to.
8) she has some very obvious natural talents which she came to Earth with.  It makes it obvious to me she is one of Heavenly Father's favorites.
9) When she and I got into an argument the other night she left the house for a few minutes (I didn't know but she was on the porch praying) When she returned she was the first one to apologize to me.  What a great example!
10) She has a love for life which is contagious!
11) Her siblings love her.
12) I love that she is in Young Women's at church and that she loves mutual, Girl's Camp, Youth conference and EFY.  I love that she and I have gone to do Baptisms for the Dead together.
13) All her teacher's at school love her... not because she has the most awesome grades but because they say she "stands out" as a leader and friend.
14) She has a great sense of style and looks cute in whatever she's wearing.
15) Although Maryn has super strong one-track mind and is trying to learn to not trade what she wants most for what she wants NOW, she has a desire to do what is right and tries hard to be good.

Maryn is a great example to her family.  She has so many friends it is ridiculous.  We are so grateful that she came to our home and love her so much.  Even though she's getting older, I remind her that she can still sit on my lap and let me kiss her cheeks all day long.
Happy Birthday Maryn!!
