You know that interview Jeff had in D.C. when he used the guy's dark socks from the laundry room? Well, he got the job!!!!
Hallelujah!
It's actually the company that he has been consulting for since August... that bless-ed company that helped us to survive financially for so long. That wicked company that made Jeff travel every other ugly week to California. That marvelous company who Jeff got attached to and enjoyed so much. Sunrise has been with us through thick and thin the last 7 months. They have stood by our side when all the other job opportunities fell by the way-side. We have said all along that the right job will be the one that "sticks." This stuck and we are grateful and happy and finally Jeff can call himself a fully employed citizen.
Amen!
The good part about the company is that Jeff won't have a problem transitioning. The other good part is that Jeff will be working from home and traveling as needed... definitely not every other week, or even for a full week at a time. The bad part is that there will be travel involved. A good and bad thing is that Jeff will be working from home. I have been kicked out of my computer space to make room for Jeff's computer and office stuff.
... a bad thing for me too is it's kind of like he's always at work...
he's checking e-mails or making phone calls when the normal working person has left the office. BUT, I do have to say that going on a few afternoon walks and going on "work errands" together has been a blessing that we have never had before. So, I'll just focus on the positive and sing praises to Sunrise! and especially thank Heavenly Father that we survived the past 9 months and lived to tell about it.
Here is Jeff, first day of his new position with Sunrise. He's off to California... but as of this blog post he's actually been home for 2 weeks in a row, which has been unheard of. (we won't mention that he'll be gone every week in May. What? I didn't hear nothin'.)
P.S. I would also like to document some of my proud feelings I have regarding Jeff looking for a job. When Jeff left his job way back in June, he took 2 months off of work and enjoyed life. Then, he made finding a new job his job. He has always kept in contact with people that he's worked with. He's a fabulous net worker. He called all his friends asking if they needed help or if they knew of somebody who would want his services. He even started his own company with others who had high aspirations like himself. He spent hours reading and researching and having luncheons and dinners and a bazillion gatherings he called meetings. He knew he couldn't rely on his resume' only. He was creative. I am so proud of how hard he worked. I am so proud of him that he knew he had to provide for 4 kids and a wife who are demanding and he did what he needed to to make our life work. He did his temporary job with Sunrise which finally blessed our lives into a full time permanent job. Cheers to Jeff. It's a crazy world out there and you proved that faith is important but it doesn't work unless you work super dang hard. Hip Hip Hooray for Jeff!!
