All Done

It was announced that Beyond5 was ending as a group because the members were wanting to go on missions... we were sad but happy to go to one last concert.

This picture makes me laugh because this guy was taking pictures with a few people in the audience before the show started.  My girls assumed it must be someone famous and even thought it was a guy from the Disney Channel.  They ran up and took this selfie with him, squealing with delight that they touched somebody famous.  Come to find out later that he's only a cousin of one of the Beyond5 members.
Silly girls.
While we waited for the show to start the other girls had fought their way to the front of the auditorium to get a great seat, Maryn and I hung out towards the back and took selfies.  We really cracked ourselves up thinking we were hilarious!  This is what Maryn posted on instagram stating how totally awesome her mom is.
Then the show started and so did all the screaming from hundreds of the girls.

During intermission Ady and I remembered that we had puffy, red eyes.  It didn't stop us from having fun even though we got some weird stares.
After the show we got autographs and pictures.
Emmy made it a goal to hug all the boys... and she accomplished that goal.

Emmy brought her friend.
I brought my friend.
And Ady brought Katie, her friend.
Great fun night with my girls and lots of fun concerts with this group!  Bye-Bye Boys!

Gingerbread House Festival

The Slichtas have a tradition of doing gingerbread houses at Christmas time.  We decided to do it after a family Sunday dinner so it could be funner with everyone and so we could have WAY more stuff to decorate with.

We LOVE having Bubba around and so happy he would fly in from Seattle to join in the festivities.  Everything is twice as fun with him.  Same with Maryn.  So with the 2 of them together we had double the fun!

Careful and precious is cute little Lexy.
Oh, just look at my baby girl with her gingerbread house.  She just wanted to be simple and clean this year with her house... (or maybe just get it done fast cuz she doesn't have the patience to spend a lot of time on detail.)
Of course Ady pays attention to detail and design.  She wants to be elaborate and careful.
Everyone's houses really showed off their personality.  Emmy used as much candy as she could while being careful and cute and Kaden ended up using tons of random stuff with no rhyme or reason to his house.

We laughed that Bubba is still considered one of "the kids" and was included in the kids picture.  He's such a good sport.
A family that creates gingerbread houses together stays together.
Happy Holidays!

A Little Too Much Red in our Christmas

December is normally a month with lots of green and RED, but this year we suffered from a yucky kind of red that we saw too much of at our house.
PINK EYE!
First it started with some cousins and slowly spread to Kaden and Emmy.

We took them to the Insta-Care one Sunday so we could get it taken care of so they wouldn't miss school.
Then one day I woke up with a little red in my eye too.
...And then Ady wanted to copy me.
We were embarrassed at how crazy we looked but it still didn't stop us from going to Beyond5 concert looking red and puffy.

The funnest part of having a bad case of pink eye is that we felt totally fine, we just looked terrible and were pretty contagious.  We both stayed home from church together which was bonding and so fun to do with Ady.
We were best buddies that day taking our potions and lotions and wanting to look half-way decent.  We took so many pictures of ourselves because frankly we thought it was hilarious.  We thought we should have gotten this over Halloween instead but for sure we made the most of it with laughing at ourselves and documenting it.

Best Night Ever!

We were SO LUCKY to get tickets to the Tabernacle Choir Christmas Concert featuring Sesame Street!!
We got there a tad early because we had come straight from Emmy's harp concert, so we had time to eat dinner at Crown Burger and then look at the beautiful lights for a minute.

It was a great night that wasn't too freezing, and everything seemed magical with Christmas, love, and happiness in the air.  I was grateful for my children and I was thankful to be with all the rest of my family who came too.

Once inside the Conference Center we were giddy with excitement!

Then once the concert started we LOVED it!
It was fantastic!
The puppets were cute and funny...
...one of my favorite songs with the Tab. choir organist playing with Count Dracula.  Amazing!
GREAT music!
... and feeling the Spirit too.
funnest show ever!
After it was all over we were SO HAPPY we were there!  We loved it SO MUCH!
The Church is true, and so is Sesame Street!

Grandpa's Funnest Party

Dad's birthday was a FUN one this year!
McKay surprised everyone at Sunday dinner by bringing out a bagpipe and playing it without anyone knowing that he had been learning the bagpipes for 5 years!  We were all shocked and surprised and laughed so hard at this secret!

We snuggled and enjoyed being together.
We laughed so hard at Dad being silly smiling for his picture of the yummy pistachio dessert that we affectionately call "McKay's dessert."
He was being super silly with his cheesy grins.
We played some games and the the uncles showed Maryn who's boss.
On Grandpa's actual birthday we did something that we had never done before... We went to a BYU basketball game all together!  Dad LOVED everything about it.  He loved the game and he loved doing it with ALL of his family.

We all pretty much had a GREAT time cheering together.
Even Mom had fun at a ball game.
(Can't remember the last time she willingly agreed to go to a ball game of any kind and I'm pretty sure she had FUN at this one.)

Happy Birthday Dad!  You're the best dad I ever had!  You're the best man I ever knew!  You're the best Grandpa there ever was!  Thanks for being the leader of this great family!
